EAST LONGMEADOW — TigerPress celebrated its grand opening of the new expanded manufacturing facility in East Longmeadow on April 17.

State Rep. Brian Ashe, James Driscoll, chair East Longmeadow Board of the Selectmen, William Wagner president of Chicopee Savings Bank, and many other local business owners were on hand for the ribbon cutting. Ashe presented TigerPress with a proclamation from the Massachusetts House of the Representatives.

With an $8 million investment, the 100,000 square-foot plant currently employs 75 people. The plant is located at 50 Industrial Drive.

"This new facility allows us to consolidate all of our divisions and operations under one roof," Reza Shafii, president of TigerPress, said. "We are anticipating significant growth in the next few years increasing to 125 to 150 employees over the next five years. We can print everything from business cards to large format brochures, catalogs and folding cartons all in one location.

"That growth has already started at the new plant with a new $2 million state-of-the-art six-color Komori perfector printing press and the addition of a new straight line gluer, a new right angle folder/gluer and a new pocket folder die cutting and gluing line. We will also be using the additional warehouse space to compete in the growing fulfillment market," Shafii continued.

Noted Western Massachusetts artist Randall Deihl was present, displaying his oil painting, "Route 5 Diner." Deihl also signed posters of the artwork printed by TigerPress for attendees. The tours included a demonstration of the green printing initiatives at TigerPress, which have eliminated the use of more than 260 gallons of chemicals and a savings of enough electricity to power 11 homes for a year.

Founded in 1985, TigerPress divisions include commercial printing, mailing services, digital quick printing, package printing, scorecard publishing, signs, banners, and tradeshow banner displays, and short run book publishing. The company also publishes SuperModels Unlimited magazine. TigerPress serves a wide range of customers including corporations, colleges, hospitals, design firms, banks, food manufacturers, and other business institutions throughout the country.
