ELECTRICAL CODE REVIEW AND OSHA CONSTRUCTION TRAINING

The Center for Business and Technology at Springfield Technical Community College has partnered with the George W. Gould Construction Institute of Burlington, MA and will conduct both the 21-hour Electrical Code Review and the OSHA 10-hour Construction courses at the College.



NURSE ASSISTANT TRAINING COURSE

Applications are now being accepted for the nationally recognized American Red Cross "Nurse Assistant Training" course. Day classes: 8:15 a.m.-4:15 p.m., Jan. 22-Feb. 13 at Red Cross Chapter, 506 Cottage St., Springfield and Jan. 29 - Feb. 21 at Geriatric Authority of Holyoke, 34 Lower Westfield Rd., Holyoke. Night classes: 5:30 - 9:30 p.m., Feb. 5-March 30 at Geriatric Authority of Holyoke, 34 Lower Westfield Rd., Holyoke.



ENHANCE CAREER TRAINING

With the goal of enhancing career training opportunities for area business professionals, Springfield Technical Community College has partnered with the Employer's Association of the NorthEast (EANE) of Agawam MA, and will conduct a variety of workshops at the College.

Programs available during the upcoming term include: Conducting an Internal Investigation: Writing Refresher: Format, Style and Grammar for Today's Workplace: Influencing Without Authority: Conversational Spanish in the Workplace: Overcoming Negativity in the Workplace.

GEOGRAPHIC INFO SYSTEMS (GIS) TRAINING

The Center for Business and Technology at Springfield Technical Community College has announced that it will offer "Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS)" during the upcoming term. Interested individuals can call 755-4225.





BARTENDING

The Center for Business and Technology at Springfield Technical Community College has announced that it will offer a Bartending course that begins soon. The course will be taught by Ray Pellegrini, a bartender with the Marriott Hotel for over 25 years. Emphasis will be on the proper preparation and presentation of a wide variety of mixed drinks. FLOWER ARRANGING

The Center for Business and Technology at Springfield Technical Community College has announced that it will offer a Flower Arranging course that will include insruction and techniques for creating beautiful fresh flower arrangements.



ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY

The Center for Business and Technology has entered into an agreement with Kirkwood Community College of Cedar Rapids IA that will allow STCC to offer a wide variety of very resonably-priced on-line courses in terrorism, water treatment, hazardous materials, and wastewater treatment, and other environmental technology areas. These web-based courses allow busy professionals in the field to acquire new knowledge as the technology changes and to develop new skills at their own pace. Continuing education credits will be awarded by the College for all courses. Interested individuals may call 755-04225.



ALLIANCE FOR INJURED WORKERS

The Alliance for Injured Workers will meet at 4 p.m. on Jan. 17 at the First Congregational Church of West Springfield, 20 Lathrop St., in West Springfield. Call 731-0760 for more info. The meeting is free and open to injured workers and their families.



POSTAL NEWS

Are you considering starting up your own Internet business by selling merchandise online? Well, the U.S. Postal Service will help make it easier for you to get started by hosting an eBay Day on Jan. 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the East Longmeadow Public Library, 60 Center Square. The U.S. Postal Service and eBay have formed a partnership and Postal Service representatives will be available to show customers how to sell items on line and answer questions. The free program will give customers an opportunity to learn how easy it is to "sell it" and "ship it." Refreshments will be available.
