Date: 1/19/2009

James Tranghese has been recognized for demonstrating entrepreneurial spirit by the Harold Grinspoon Charitable Foundation's Entrepreneurship Initiative. Tranghese, who is pursuing a degree in Construction Management at Springfield Technical Community College, will be among the students honored at the foundation's annual banquet taking place April 29 at the Log Cabin in Holyoke.

Born and raised in East Longmeadow, Tranghese is a licensed general contractor who operates his home improvement and remodeling business from his location at the Scibelli Enterprise Center's Student Business Incubator. He plans to continue his education in construction management after graduating from STCC.

Last year more than 50 students attending colleges and universities in the Pioneer Valley were recognized by the Grinspoon Foundation's Entrepreneurship Initiative for demonstrating "entrepreneurial spirit." Individual awards ranged from $500 to $3,000.

Participating institutions include American International College, Bay Path College, Elms College, Greenfield Community College, Hampshire College, Holyoke Community College, Mt. Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Springfield Technical Community College, University of Massachusetts Amherst, Western New England College and Westfield State College.
