Turn a house into a home at showcase

Date: 3/9/2009

The 40th annual North Central Connecticut Chamber of Commerce Home & Product Show will take place March 13, 14 and 15 at Asnuntuck Community College in Enfield.

The show hours are Friday, 5 to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.

This year s event will showcase more than 85 exhibitors from throughout the entire North Central Connecticut and Western Massachusetts regions. The show will feature goods and services for the entire home.

While mom and dad are searching for that special item, the kids can visit with the Good Neigh Bear, Rocky Raccoon, Ernest the Eagle and Herbie the Hydrant. Again this year, the Big Red Dog and the Big Blue Monster will be making an appearance to hand out candy and balloons on Saturday and Sunday.

Ashley Glenn, Ms. Connecticut, will be at the show this year on March 14.

Co-chairs Gary Cote, from Hangman Wallpaper and Paint, and Paul Poutre, from the Journal Inquirer, as well as the entire Home Show Committee, have spent numerous hours preparing for another exciting show.

Everyone attending the show will be automatically entered into the grand prize drawing taking place Sunday afternoon. Among the items in the grand prize drawings are a new Whirlpool washer and dryer donated by Carl s Appliance, a golf foursome with carts donated by Crestview Country Club, an Acer Netbook computer donated by Rockville Bank, and a Nintendo Wii donated by the Chamber. This year s show will also feature a special $3,500 gift certificate grand prize to Teddy Bear Pools and Spas that can be used toward anything in their store. All kids will also be eligible for a free raffle to win one of two bikes or one of two gliders available at the Costco booth.

Once again, we will also have a paint can raffle with items supplied by many exhibitors and Chamber members.

Fabulous food will be available for purchase at the show as Chef Fran from Downtown Catering will be serving steamed cheeseburgers, corn beef sandwiches, juicy hot dogs, his famous chili, chef s salad and more. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase from and served by Allied s Enfield Stars.

The major sponsor this year is USA Hauling & Recycling. The Chamber thanks them for stepping up as this year s major sponsor and for supporting its members and the communities that they serve. The home show s associate sponsor is ConnectiCare.
