VertitechIT opens new headquarters at Holyoke’s Open Square

Date: 2/27/2014

HOLYOKE – John Aubin and VertitechIT are pleased to announce the establishment of VertitechIT’s new headquarters at Open Square.

The national IT networking and consulting firm is moving in March to a new, custom designed and built work space in Open Square, a mixed-use office, retail, and event complex located in a historic 19th-century mill along Holyoke’s Upper Canal.

VertitechIT, based in temporary quarters at Open Square since May 2013, will occupy an office environment created for it by architect/builder John Aubin. The new headquarters will provide 3,557 square feet of work and meeting space, configured to maximize secure, private areas for consultation plus an open, flexible floor area for operations.

VertitechIT, a 13-year-old consultancy that specializes in managing IT infrastructure for the healthcare industry, large and small businesses, and private equity firms, decided to upgrade to a custom-built environment after experiencing significant growth during the past two years. In addition to its Open Square headquarters, VertitechIT maintains regional offices in Connecticut, Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

Michael Feld, VertitechIT’s CEO, notes that the company’s new base “gives us a home and a reason to invite clients on-site. From a technical standpoint, it gives our people the ability to better manage our infrastructure and have the workspace conducive to communicating with clients in a more secure and private environment.”

Aubin’s design emphasizes simplicity and aesthetic satisfactions in the built environment, combining quality materials with subtle geometric stylings, like gently curved walls and extended sightlines. Highlights of Aubin’s design for VertitechIT include:

• Three private offices for secure communications within the main work area;

• Flowing, open areas featuring three main work “pods” or islands creatively;

configured to enhance collaboration

• Unique curved inner walls, a signature of Aubin’s accessible modern design, that are mounted with whiteboards, providing ample work surfaces within the pods;

• A curved conference room whose central position in the floorscape crowns an environment emphasizing VertitechIT’s collective brainpower and commitment to creating solutions.

“The design of an office headquarters makes an important statement about a company’s vision and brand,” Feld said. “Our office space needs to reflect a company that melds the old and the new, and is a home for smart, creative thinkers and problem solvers. Our office design and furnishings are critical in setting the tone for both our clients and our people.”

Open Square, located in Holyoke’s Canal District, is architect John Aubin’s Urban Laboratory for architecture, planning, sustainability, and private sector economic development. Since 2004, the 685,000-square-foot zero-net-energy mill complex has become home to more than 50 businesses.
