Beautiful Image opens new location in Ludlow

Date: 10/14/2016

LUDLOW – Beautiful Image of Western Mass, a popular South Hadley-based non-invasive medical spa, recently opened a second location in Ludlow at 123 Center St.

The new facility offers the same complement of services available at Beautiful Image’s original office, including microcurrent facelifts, lipo laser therapy for body sculpting, chemical peels to refresh facial skin, and spray tanning.

“Many of our patients work in the Springfield area and surrounding communities,” said Beautiful Image Facial Sculpting practitioner and spa co-owner Sherrie L. Champagne. “We thought it would be beneficial to open an office in the area.”

Spa co-owner Dr. Daniel Champagne said he is excited about bringing the spa’s signature treatment – the microcurrent facelift  – to clients in the greater Springfield area.

This non-invasive treatment uses painless, microcurrent technology to regenerate collagen and elastin tissue in the face and body, reducing wrinkles and tightening sagging skin.

“We are the only ones in New England doing this [treatment] with the Beautiful Image system,” Dan Champagne said of the FDA-approved treatment.

He explained microcurrent treatment was originally developed as a treatment for patients with Bell’s palsy – a condition in which damage to the facial nerve which controls one side of the face causes that side of the face to droop.  Physicians utilizing microcurrent to treat the palsy noticed patient’s wrinkles seemed softer, and facial contours seemed more lifted. In 1976 a physician and a NASA electrical engineer collaborated on a prototype machine and the Beautiful Image non-surgical facelift was born.

“The technology is 40 years old,” Sherrie Champagne, who uses the sixth generation of the Beautiful Image machine at the spa, explained. Clients choose this rejuvenation technique “when they don’t want to go the surgery route,” she added.

The typical course of treatment is 10 sessions, with noticeable results in three to four visits, according to the spa’s website.

“Most people say their friends and family ask ‘what are you doing?’ or comment that the person ‘looks younger’,” Dan Champagne said

Significantly aged skin may require additional treatments for optimal results. A monthly tune-up is recommended to maintain the effects. Because the microcurrent treatments do not affect the surface of skin – there is no redness or swelling – Dan Champagne said there is no downtime for clients. They can put on their makeup and continue with their daily routines.

The Ludlow spa location also offers the FDA-approved lipo laser therapy for body sculpting. The procedure releases fatty acids from fat cells, which are flushed out by the body’s waste systems. The result is a reduction in the size of the fat cells, and a corresponding loss of inches.

“It’s non-invasive, the [conduction] pads just go on the skin. The patient isn’t having something inserted into the body, so there’s no chance for any damage,” Dan Champagne said.

The spa has also recently added the services of an esthetician, Jamie Boisvert, who offers skin rejuvenating light chemical peels – which complement the microcurrent facelifts or can be used alone to freshen the skin – and spray tanning at both the South Hadley and Ludlow locations, by appointment.
