Falcons to host Cancer Awareness Night

Date: 4/14/2016

SPRINGFIELD – The Springfield Falcons announced Cancer Awareness Night will take place April 17 when the Falcons host the Portland Pirates at 5 p.m. at the MassMutual Center.

The team will wear specialty jerseys with a silent auction held on the concourse until the second intermission. Once the second intermission begins, a live auction will commence on the concourse outside Fan Relations (Section 28). The proceeds for the jersey auction will be donated to the Griffin’s Friends.

Griffin’s Friends is a group of volunteers dedicated to providing support to children with cancer.  Founded in 1994 in Springfield, Massachusetts, Griffin’s Friends is named for Griffin D. Kelleher, who passed away at 14 months of age after a courageous battle with cancer.  His legacy is this special group which supports, in a unique way, children in treatment for cancer and their families.

Griffin’s Friends established the “Griffin’s Friends Childrens’ Cancer Fund” at Baystate Health Foundation, Inc., which is funded by donations from fundraising activities organized by Griffin’s Friends volunteers.
