First in Patient Satisfaction - Mercy Medical Center

SPRINGFIELD The Emergency Department at Mercy Medical Center has undergone some dramatic changes in recent months and all the hard work is paying off, with it's selection as the best emergency room in a recent patient survey.

Patient satisfaction is a top priority for Mercy's Emergency Department (ED), and the most recent survey ranks the ED first in patient satisfaction among the 33 acute care Catholic Health East (CHE) member hospitals. This recognition follows a recent renovation project in the ED that placed an emphasis on delivering the best medical care possible, as quickly as possible, utilizing the latest available technology. Specifically, these changes included the adoption of a new triage system, improvements to the "Fast Track" system for minor injuries and greater assistance from patient advocates.

"The entire ED staff has done a remarkable job incorporating these improvements, and the results of their outstanding efforts are not only evident by their "First in Patient Satisfaction" ranking within CHE. More importantly, those efforts are recognized by the patients they treat," said James E. Fanale, M.D., Chief Operating Officer of Mercy Medical Center. "Mercy's ED often serves as a 'front door' to our facility, and we are grateful for the staff's commitment and dedication to delivering treatment quickly and compassionately."

"You won't find a better ER team in the region," said Jill Griffin, M.D., Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Mercy Medical Center. "Our team of expert emergency physicians, physician assistants, experienced ER nurses and support staff is passionate about our mission to provide appropriate treatment quickly.
