For the 23rd year, the American Lung Association is bringing together cyclists from all over New England to ride 160 miles and take part in a one-of-a-kind experience. The Autumn Escape Bike Trek takes off from Plymouth and ends two days later in Provincetown. Over 300 cyclists ride at their own pace to experience Cape Cod in a whole new way, and help make an impact in the lung health of Massachusetts. "This event brings people together for a cause, but once our trekkers start riding, it is all about the experience and having an amazing weekend together," said Paul Curley, Cycling Events Manager for the American Lung Association of Massachusetts. The Autumn Escape Bike Trek is either a two- or three-day event, both options are available for interested participants, and will be taking place from Sept. 14-16 (the two-day ride begins Saturday in Sandwich and finishes in Provincetown). There is a registration fee, and a fundraising minimum of $500. Your fundraising efforts go to support asthma education along with lung disease research, smoking cessation programs and advocacy efforts. Housing is provided, along with breakfast Saturday and Sunday morning, and dinner Friday and Saturday night. Bus transportation will also be provided at the finish to bring riders back to either start location. September is an excellent month for cycling events, and this event is sure to be the highlight of your cycling season.
