Noble Hospital sponsors 28th annual 5K run/walk at Stanley Park
Date: 4/9/2012
April 9, 2012WESTFIELD Registration is now open for the 28th annual Noble Hospital 5K Run & Walk on April 28.
The race begins at 9 a.m., with registration from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. in the Children's Pavilion at Stanley Park.
The 5K run is a competitive road race for all levels of runners from the novice to the serious athlete. The 3.1-mile course is flat out and back through Stanley Park and the surrounding residential area. A non-competitive walk great for families follows the same route as the road race. Individuals, teams, and school groups are all encouraged to participate.
Proceeds from the 5K are directed to the Noble Hospital Annual Fund. It costs an enormous amount of money to provide the vast array of services available at Noble, around the clock, 365 days per year. In the best of times, community hospital net margins are quite low, and meeting its current operating needs as well as other expenses is a significant and persistent challenge. The road race is one of two major community fund-raising events hosted by the hospital. The other major fund-raising event is the Noble Ball each fall.
Early registration is encouraged. The registration fee for ages 13 to 59 is $30 before April 13 (seniors 60 or older are $20). The registration fee for ages 13 to 59 is $35 between April 14 and 28 (seniors 60 or older are $25). Children younger than the age of 12 register free of charge when accompanied by an adult. T-shirts and sizes are available to registrants on a first-come, first-served basis while inventory is available.
