Noble to sponsor ethics discussion

WESTFIELD Noble Hospital's Ethics Committee presents Barbara Bennett Jacobs, PhD, MPH, RN speaking on Ethics Committees: Past, Present, and Future Generations. Jacobs will speak on Sept. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. in Conference Room A at Noble Hospital.
The presentation will include a description of the evolution of ethics committees in hospital settings; the scope of committee work including clinical consultations, education, research, and policy information; information from the American Society of Bioethics & Humanities publications; Advance Directives, DNR orders, and other challenges to moral clinical decision-making.
Jacobs is the director of the Clinical Ethics Consultation Service at Hartford Hospital, a Visiting Professor of Ethics at the University of Saint Joseph, and is the author of TELOS: Trauma End-of-Life Optimum Support, a guide for health professionals in managing trauma patients at the end of their lives.
