Northern Connecticut Vegetarian Society to host Celtic evening

Date: 2/17/2009

The Northern Connecticut Vegetarian Society is a nonprofit organization which advocates a compassion and healthy vegetarian diet. We wish to provide support to vegetarians by building a community for them and all those interested in a cruelty-free lifestyle.

On Feb. 22 at 5 p.m., Northern Connecticut Vegetarians invite the public to an evening with a Celtic/Irish band featuring Lisa Furman and BlueFlys Band and a Vegan Celtic/Irish Potluck. Furman on guitar, Irish whistle and lead vocals, Chris Teskey on guitar, Dick Neal on banjo and mandolin and Tahlia Furman on fiddle play a fresh, progressive, eclectic blend of Celtic and Americana music and perform regularly in southern Connecticut and the New York City area.

Attendees should bring a healthy vegan dish (Celtic is possible) to share along with a list of the ingredients and attendee's name. Also, attendees should bring your place setting.

A donation of $10 per adult is requested; children are free. Reservations are requested as this is a popular event. The Carniglia Senior Center, 41 Oak St., Windsor Locks, Conn., is the location for this event.

Free parking is available in a large lot across from the center.
