Pastor John P. Morgan honored

SPRINGFIELD — The American Heart and Stroke Association is pleased to announce that Pastor John P. Morgan of Springfield has been selected as a 2011 National Power to End Stroke Ambassadors Award winner.

Pastor Morgan represented the American Heart Association's (AHA) Founder's Affiliate at the National Power to End Stroke (PTES) Gala Weekend in New York City on May 6 and 7.

The objectives of the weekend were to recognize the volunteers that are integral to the success and sustainability of the AHA, as well as allowing the opportunity to network with those from around the country that share their passion. Pastor Morgan was joined by other award winners from around the country as well as some celebrity awardees such as: Smokie Norful, George Wilborn, Myron Butler, Dr. Freda-Lewis Hall, Bernie Salazar, Sandra Graham-Mason and Rev. Dr. Geneace Williams.

The PTES Gala weekend included a VIP reception and Red Carpet Power Awards Ceremony and Concert at the Apollo Theater with performances by Chrisette Michele, winners of the Most Powerful Voices Competition and many more. On May 7, a Power Networking event took place with keynote speaker Mathew Knowles.

Pastor Morgan was selected because of his conviction and dedication to community service. He embraces every aspect of the AHA and American Stroke Association and embodies the true spirit of service and volunteerism. His commitment, passion and energy have been invaluable resources to the AHA.
