Red Cross reschedules Jan. 26 DAT meeting
Date: 1/31/2011
GREATER SPRINGFIELD — The American Red Cross Disaster Action Team meeting and volunteer preview that was originally scheduled to be held on Jan. 26 has been rescheduled to Feb. 2.
On Feb. 2, visitors will have the opportunity to observe a live Disaster Action Team (DAT) meeting and learn more about becoming an American Red Cross Pioneer Valley Chapter volunteer.
At the American Red Cross Pioneer Valley Chapter, more than 100 volunteers know the satisfaction of helping others as part of the DAT.
They take the actions needed to provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.
The Pioneer Valley Chapter DAT meets monthly to discuss best practices, review monthly disaster responses, discuss upcoming events, and to answer any questions volunteers may have.
Attending a DAT meeting provides a great opportunity for those interested in volunteering to get a true sense of what it's like to volunteer with the Red Cross.
The chapter invites all interested individuals to attend our Disaster Action Team meeting on Feb. 2, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Franklin County Sheriff's Office at 160 Elm St. in Greenfield.
