PIONEER VALLEY READING COUNCIL The Pioneer Valley Reading Council will present i ts fifth workshop, Links to Literacy--The Reading Writing Math Connection: Part III, featuring Mr. Democracy's Colonial Math Muster on April 5 at The Log Cabin, 500 Easthampton Road, Holyoke. Register at 5 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m., and the musical presentation at 7 p.m. Mr. Democracy (aka Tom DeFilipi), a songwriting colonial schoolmaster, is back with his original songs, poems, and vignettes about Early American math, writing, and guided reading activities. The schoolmaster is an energetic advocate of co-teaching, cross-curriculum, and interdisciplinary lessons. He demonstrates how to add music, poetry, math, and creative writing assignments to embellish lessons and fortify guided reading activities. |
