The Community Music School of Springfield (CMSS) was among three Massachusetts arts organizations honored earlier this month at the State House in a special Coming Up Taller awards ceremony. The President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities cited the three organizations for excel-lence in providing outstanding community arts and humanities programs that celebrate the creativity of American young people and provide them with learning opportunities. At the ceremony are (from left) CMSS Board President Jayne Gill of Longmeadow; H. Mark Smith, YouthReach program manager at the Massachusetts Cultural Council; and CMSS Executive Director Eric Bachrach. The other arts organizations honored were Express Yourself in Peabody, and Art a la Carte, College Bound, Dorchester.
