Big Brothers Big Sisters honored

SPRINGFIELD — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hampden County has been awarded a 2010 Gold Standard Award by Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

This prestigious award, which will be presented at the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America national conference in Dallas, Texas, in June, is given to the top agencies nationally in recognition of strong financial and programmatic growth and top quality service delivery.

"We are very proud that we've been selected to receive this prestigious award," Beth Russell, executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hampden County, said. "Research has demonstrated that Big Brother Big Sister programs are at the top of the mentoring field, consistently delivering services with measurable positive impact on youth. To be chosen as one of the best among hundreds of outstanding Big Brother Big Sisters programs nationwide is a wonderful honor."

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hampden County is one of 18 Big Brother Big Sister agencies to achieve Gold Standard status in 2010.
