BOSTON The Department of Conservation and Recreation's (DCR) Universal Access Program (UAP)will offer cross-country skiing, kicksledding, snowshoeing, ice skating, sled hockey and snow mobile rides for individuals with disabilities at Wendell State Forest, located on Montague Road in Wendell from 11a.m. to 3p.m. on the following Saturdays: Jan. 6, 13, 20, 27 and Feb. 3, 10, 17, 24. Free use of accessible equipment and staff assistance are available. The Universal Access Program provides recreational accessibility to state and urban park facilities for individuals with disabilities, their families and friends. For persons with disabilities, free use of accessible equipment and staff assistance is available. The Universal Access Program strives to increase the participation among persons with disabilities in indoor and outdoor recreational activities in integrated settings. During January, February and March, UAP will offer ice skating, sit-skating, cross-country skiing, sit cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, kick sledding, snowmobiling and other winter activities for individuals with disabilities at other various state and urban park facilities. The program also offers accessible cycling, boating, hiking, birdwatching, horseback riding and camping programs in the summer and fall. Pre-registration is required.
