Bonnie Brae Summer Sampler at Camp Bonnie Brae is a fun overnight camp session for girls entering grades 2 - 9 designed for first-time campers, and those who prefer to spend three days at camp. Girls will enjoy a sampling of fun camp activities including swimming, arts and crafts, games, campfires, planning special activities with their group, and more. There are three age group sessions for girls entering grades 2 - 3, girls entering grades 4 - 6, and our new Teen Sampler for girls entering grades 6 - 9. Many exciting adventure trips are being offered at Bonnie Brae too, and there is still room available in some sessions. The sessions are open to all girls entering grades 7-11. Camp Bonnie Brae is located in East Otis, MA. This safe, nurturing, all-girl environment provides a place for girls to become strong and confident. All staff is qualified, caring, and trained in safety, human development, the Girl Scout program, and camp skills. Camp Bonnie Brae is an American Camp Association (ACA) Accredited Camp. Programs include: Smooth Sailing - Learn to sail on beautiful Big Pond! Also participate in our fun, general camp programs. Adirondack Canoe Trip - During this two-week camp experience, you will learn about packing, portaging and canoe camping before heading out on a four-night, five-day adventure to the Adirondacks in upstate NY. Connecticut River Canoe Trip - During your week at camp, enjoy a three-day, two-night canoe trip on the CT River. Days in camp will be spent planning the trip, participating in regular camp programs and learning about river travel. Appalachian Trail Adventure - Hike for three days on the Appalachian Trail in the Berkshires! Carry your supplies and camp along the trail for two nights! DREAM Studios, Inc. is offering 40 free Summer Camp scholarships to inner city youth this summer for their Dance Intensive, Shakers Performing Art Teens and Shakers Performing Arts Tots summer camps. Dance Intensive is a two-week dance boot camp that teaches several styles of dance to young people as it prepares them for Dance Factory, our annual concert of movement. Shakers Performing Arts Camp is our five-week summer program that introduces inner city youth to Shakespeare. Shakers is broken into two sessions, three weeks for ages nine to 18 and two weeks for ages five to nine. Each camp engages young actors, actresses, singers and dancers in a one-on-one working relationship with accomplished dramatist and dancers for a total of three camp sessions. Our performing arts activities includes acting, dancing, and singing along with the technical side of theater which includes writing, lighting, stage design and costume design. The tournament will be held on May 25 at the Oak Ridge Golf Club with the proceeds going to raise financial support for the camp. It's one of the oldest tournaments in western Mass. Executive director David Scanlin says, "The tournament plays an important role in raising scholarship money so deserving kids can attend the summer program." The camp is an integrated experience for children with disabilities and their able-bodied peers. Kids come from all over western Massachusetts to celebrate their abilities. The tournament includes 18 holes of golf at Oak Ridge Country Club, carts, green's fees, complimentary barbeque lunch and dinner banquet. For a hole-in-one, golfers have the chance to win prizes including a two year new car lease from Bertera Lincoln Mercury, a spa from Teddy Bear Pools and Spas, or a set of clubs from Fran Johnsons.
