MAB to host fashion show

SPRINGFIELD - MAB Community Services (formerly the Massachusetts Association for the Blind), is hosting their very first fashion show fundraiser. The event will take place on Sunday, April 29 at the Castle of Knights in Chicopee from 1 to 3 p.m., and includes hors d'oeuvres, cash bar, music, raffles, and a silent auction.

What makes this fashion show very different is that the models will be men and women who either have vision loss or are blind. (There will be a few guide dogs modeling, as well.)

The theme of the show is "Fabric of Life," because there will be several handmade quilts and a wall hanging as silent auction items. All materials for the quilts were donated by members of the community. One extraordinary quilt has been created by a woman who is blind.

Raffle tickets for this quilt and tickets for the show can be purchased by calling Judy Kennedy, Regional Director at 734-7343 ext 101, or Pam Kelly at ext 106.

Suggested ticket price is $45, but there are a limited number of reduced price tickets at $10.

MAB's goal is twofold: to raise funds for our consumer programs, while heightening awareness of what individuals with vision loss can do when given the opportunity and support.
