Majestic Theater to host auditions for three plays

WEST SPRINGFIELD The Majestic Theater will host open auditions in the theater May 14 from noon to 3 p.m. and May 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. for performers interested in appearing in the children's theater lineup of plays in July and August.
High-school-aged actors should prepare a short mono-logue, prepare a song with CD accompaniment if interested in musical performance and be ready for a cold reading. Actors must call the theater at 747-7797 to sign up for an audition slot.
Three plays will be per-formed in repertory for young audiences, and actors will earn a small stipend for eight weeks. The first rehearsal is June 27, and the final performance takes place Aug. 17.
The three plays are:
- "Stuart Little" Based on the story by E. B. White and dramatized by Joseph Robinette, is the classic tale of the boy who was born a mouse.
- "Peter and the Wolf" Based on the musical tale by Sergei Prokofiev, with an adaptation by Allison Gregory, is a musical interpretation that features young Peter who lives in his grandfather's house in the forest.
- "Charlotte's Web" Based on the story by E. B. White and dramatized by Joseph Robinette, relays the loving story of true friendship between a pig named Wilbur and a spider named Charlotte.
