Pair of concerts benefit area tornado relief

Date: 7/12/2011

WEST SPRINGFIELD — Proceeds from two concerts at the Majestic Theater have raised $10,358 to aid families in that town that suffered due to the tornado strike that occurred on June 1.
The concerts, which took place June 20 and 21, both sold out within days of their announcement. Some of the Majestic’s most popular entertainers from the past 15 years were on hand to perform.

According to Majestic Theater Producing Director Danny Eaton, “We will be dividing the proceeds into thirds. Two-thirds will go directly to the families of Angelica Guerrero and Sergey Livchin, the two West Springfield residents who were killed during the storm, and the remaining third will go to a tornado relief fund managed by the West Springfield Park and Recreation Department to aid those in town who experienced hardships from the storm.”

Eaton expressed gratitude to all who participated, including the entertainers, technical crew and Majestic Theater staff, all of whom donated their services both nights, and to all who donated to the cause.
