Pioneer Valley Reading Council to host 'Literacy and Community'

The Pioneer Valley Reading Council will present its fifth workshop, Literacy and Community, featuring Joan Klatil Creamer, author and illustrator of The Magic Sceptre series on April 30 at the Log Cabin, 500 Easthampton Rd., Holyoke. Registration begins at 5 p.m., with dinner and Literary Award presentation at 6 p.m. and the presentation at 7 p.m.
Joan Klatil Creamer is a many talented woman. A graduate of Cleveland Institute of Art, she majored in Industrial Design. She started her career at General Motors as their first female passenger-car designer working in the exterior design/styling department. She later worked providing design guidance for General Electric's major appliance development and later for Gorham and Burnes of Boston designing gift and collectable items. Creamer has created and produced Rhode Island's Easter egg for the White House collections and created the Magic Sceptre children's picture book series.
