Springfield organization announces scholarship for area students Quota International of Springfield is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a student in the greater Springfield area who is hearing-impaired or who intends to pursue a field of study pertaining to hearing-impaired individuals. Quota International, Inc. is a non-profit service organization of executives, professionals and business people, which provides service to people with speech and hearing impairments and community and world service, specifically to disadvantaged women and children. Members of the local club will interview scholarship candidates in March and announce a winner in May 2007. Applicants must be high school seniors, undergraduate or graduate students in an accredited institution of higher learning, or students enrolled in a vocational training program established by federal mandate for hearing-impaired people. Applicants must also reside in the greater Springfield area or attend a local college. Interested persons should submit a complete application, a transcript, two letters of reference, and a copy of a current audiogram if hearing-impaired. Application deadline is Feb. 1.
