LUDLOW Sheriff Michael J. Ashe Jr. has announced that the Sheriff's Department will host their seventh annual Sprint Triathlon to benefit the Ludlow Boys and Girls Club on May 1. The event begins at 9 a.m. and will start and finish at the Ludlow Boys and Girls Club, 91 Claudia's Way. Country Bank for Savings will continue their sponsorship for the event. F.I.R.M. (Fiske Independent Race Management) will be the race manager.
The triathlon will begin with a 300 yard swim in the indoor pool at the Boys and Girls Club followed by a nine-mile bicycle race, and ending with a 3.2 mile road race. Individual and team entries are welcomed. T-shirts are provided to all pre-registered athletes and the first 25 athletes to register on race day. Entry fees are $70 per individual and $90 per team. Athletes register online by visiting the F.I.R.M. Web site at www.firm-racing.com. Proceeds from the triathlon will support the scholarship program to provide program access to the organization's summer camp and school-aged childcare programs for children and families in need. The Boys and Girls Club serves 6,000 children in the Ludlow area.
