Summer Reading Club

It's not too late to join the Summer Reading Club

SPRINGFIELD It's not too late to join the Summer Reading Club at the Springfield City Library, now through August 5. What's buzzin' at your library®, this year's summer reading club, offers fun activities and incentives to keep reading during the summer for children and teens at their neighborhood libraries.

Three clubs are available: Read-to-Me for the youngest members, the What's Buzzin' Club for children reading on their own, and the Teen Club for teenagers. Sign-up is free and easy at your neighborhood library. Members will receive a packet to record their summer reading, a small gift, and instructions on how to earn prizes and an invitation to the library's roller-skating party, to be held at Interskate 91 in August.

Everyone who signs up for reading club will receive an invitation to a summer reading celebration party, complete with refreshments and entertainment. This year's performers include Roger Tincknell, with a lively concert, Earth Rhythms; Cindy Melikian, with Cindy's Magical Book Tour, a magic show featuring live animals; Charlotte Dore, with a funny Rosalita's Puppets show, Goldilocks and the Three Dragons; and Joan Robb's Caribbean for Kids concert featuring calypso, reggae, and limbo dancing!

Two parties for teen members with special activities planned are also planned. Parties are open to Springfield Summer Reading Club members, so call or visit your neighborhood library for party dates and invitations or more information.

What's buzzin' at your library® is funded by the Friends of the Springfield Library, Inc., the Service League Foundation, the Massachusetts Regional Library Systems, and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. Library programs are offered free of charge. For more information, contact Jean at the Springfield City Library, 263-6828, ext. 291, or visit your neighborhood branch or www.springfieldlibrary.org.
