Westfield Boys & Girls Club summer camp kicks off June 25

WESTFIELD — The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Westfield's Kidscape Summer Camp will kick-off on June 25.

The most powerful and authentic learning experiences often occur outside traditional school classrooms. These learning experiences generate excitement among young people and leave lasting imprints on their growth and development.

Summer vacations are an ideal time for members to engage in informal learning opportunities. The Boys & Girls Club's summer camp activities reinforce important skills such as reading, writing, speaking, listening, computing and problem solving.

Camps are offered for kids age 5 to 13 for nine weeks: June 25 to 29, July 2 to 6, July 9 to 13, July 16 to 20, July 23 to 27, July 30 to Aug. 3, Aug. 6 to 10, Aug. 13 to 17 and Aug. 20 to 24. Hours of operation are from 8:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., with early drop off from 7 to 8:30 a.m.

The cost is $125 for 5 to 7 year-olds and $120 for 8 to 13 year-olds. There is a one-time non-refundable registration fee of $20. Camp cost includes breakfast, lunch, field trip, T-shirt and more.

Campers are required to bring a bathing suit, towel and a pair of sneakers.

If a child requires daily medication, sunscreen or has any allergies, arrangements should be made to leave all medications with staff upon entering the building. Medications must be in the original containers for distribution.

The following locations will be available as local pick-up and drop-off sites at a fee of $20 per week per child. Morning pick up times: bus departs club at 8 a.m. for CVS and St. Mary's; bus departs club at 8:20 a.m. for Powder Mill Village Apartments. Afternoon departure times: bus departs club at 4:30 p.m. for Powder Mill Village Apartments; bus departs club at 4:45 p.m. for CVS & St. Mary's. Please note: times are subject to change.

Wednesday field trips include: Interskate 91 on June 27; Look Park on July 11; July 18 trip to be determined; Big Adventures for those age 5 to 10 on July 25 and those age 11 to 13 will go to Glow Golf; Bousquet Water Park on Aug. 1; Build A Bear on Aug. 8; Big Adventures on Aug. 15 for those age 5 to 10 and to the movies for those 11 to 13 years old; Interskate 91 on Aug. 22.
