Young United Players enrolling for summer season
Date: 4/17/2014
WILBRAHAM – The Young United Players (YUP) is seeking enrollment for their 2014 Summer Theatre session.
YUP is a summer youth theater program designed to teach children the basics of theater arts in a fun and quick paced environment. The group meets for two weeks and at the end will perform Disney’s “Alice In Wonderland.”
The program teaches young people learn how to be confident, respectful and responsible stage performers, and the core principals of observation, focus and teamwork. Along the way they’ll play games, learn music and movement for the show and then end with the performances that use the skills they’ve learned along the way.
Young people between the ages of 9 and 18 before July 20 are eligible to participate in the program. Participants do not have to be experienced on the stage. They will learn everything they need to know and more, and everybody will perform in the production.
YUP is sponsored by the Wilbraham United Players, a community theatre organization that has been in existence for almost 60 years. YUP Program and Artistic Director Kathleen Delaney, is a theater professional who has been teaching theater in the area for many years. Producing Director Deborah Trimble, has been the artistic director for both the Wilbraham United Players and the former Wilbraham Summer Youth Theatre.
The YUP Summer program takes place at the Wilbraham United Church, 500 Main St. The 2014 program begins July 7 and continues through July 20. Core hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each weekday. The cost for the program is $200. Extended hours are available upon request for an additional fee. Enrollment for this program is limited and the deadline is June 1.
