Girl Scouts participate in 3rd Annual Leadership Conference

On June 9, Girls Scouts in the Pioneer Valley will be able to make their lives a work of art at the Third Annual Latina Leadership Conference sponsored by Bay Path College.

The conference allows girls from all walks of life, ages 11-17, to explore issues of leadership and culture through five exciting workshops taught by dynamic professional artists and performers. Girls will also enjoy performances by recording artist Samantha Molin and participate in a career panel discussion with successful Latina women from western Mass.

During the day girls can connect aspects of Latino culture to their own lives by immersing themselves in painting, poetry, dance, acting and jewelry making through programs like "Life on Canvas," "Life in Words," "Life in Motion," "Life on Stage," and "Accessorize Life." Awilda Oxios, Crystal Senter-Brown, Nector Garcia, Jenny Whitley, Daisy Jimenez and Trudy Monson will teach their extraordinary talents at this special event.

The career discussion panel will be led by Bay Path College students Eva Rodriguez and Nadya Pacheco, State Representative Cheryl Coakley-Rivera, Channel 22 Reporter Jade Rivera and Attorney Nancy Ramos. Each will share her own unique experience and allow other girls to voice their ideas and concerns.

The Latina Leadership Conference will be held at Bay Path College from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost is $10 per person. Girls do not have to be registered Girl Scouts to attend.

To register call Daisy at Girl Scouts of Pioneer Valley at 525-4124 x 22 for a registration form.
