Boar’s Head Festival takes place for the 37th yearDate: 1/15/2020 SPRINGFIELD – Dozens of people gathered at the Trinity United Methodist Church over the weekend of Jan. 10 to see the annual Boar’s Head Festival.
According to the church’s website, the annual production celebrated its 37 years putting on the festival in 2020. The festival, which celebrates “a medieval festival from England, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil.” Starting 45 minutes before the show officially begins, cast members spend time in character walking around the audience and interacting with guests. Audience members were treated to a variety of entertainment from a balancing jester, live animals, musical performances and more.
The festival then began and included choral and instrumental performances, dancing, a procession of festival foods and live animals. Following the hours-long performance, guests were invited to meet the animals involved in the show, and enjoyed cookies and punch made by members of the church while listening to a Brass Quintet.
