SPRINGFIELD – The Springfield Museums’ annual gingerbread contest is now on display for all to see.
Each year, dozens of professionals, amateurs and youth from across Massachusetts enter the competition with creative displays following the year’s theme. The 2020 theme for the competition was Gingerbread in Wonderland. While contestants didn’t have to use the theme in their displays, a large portion of gingerbread creations chose to enter displays centered around the classic Lewis Carroll novel, “Alice in Wonderland.”
The competition opened to the public on Nov. 27 and will be on display until Jan. 3. Those visiting the display will be able to vote on their favorite gingerbread creations. The Springfield Museums are located on 21 Edwards St. in Springfield and are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The Museums are closed on Mondays.
Those attending the Museums are encouraged to purchase tickets ahead of time online at https://springfieldmuseums.org/tickets/ and must wear a mask while visiting the Museums.
