CHICOPEE -- Tanya Hryn, a senior at Chicopee High School and the daughter of Hannah and Volodimir Hryn, was selected as this year's Chicopee Colleen Saturday night at the Knights of Columbus on Granby Road. As one of the five finalists, Hryn was asked if she could be anyone who would she be? Her answer was herself. She said, "Life is too short and you might not be able to make a difference [if you weren't yourself.]"
Seen here with Hryn is her court (left to right) Patricia Erin Meyer, Kelsey Vershon, Victoria Celetti and Caitlin Joeana Reed.
As colleen, Hryn received a tiara from the Parade Committee; a trip for two to Ireland from Doyle Travel, Tigers Athletic Club, Knights of Columbus Elder Council 69 and Moose Family Center; a scholarship from the Johnny Yee Foundation; a monetary gift from Sweeney Brothers Inc.; an engraved Revere bowl from Mayor Michael Bissonnette; a diamond necklace from Ryan's Jewelers; a Belleek colleen vase from Ingleside Gift House; and a color portrait package photography from Shuback Photography.
