CHICOPEE There is always a need for help at soup kitchens, especially this year.

The Arbors Assisted Living is doing their part and hosting their second annual Christmas Craft Fair and Bake Sale on Dec. 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 929 Memorial Drive.

"Last year was our first time doing a bake sale. It went over quite well and we sold out quickly. We donated $800 to Lorraine's Soup Kitchen and hope that this year we can donate $1,200," Sondra Jones, Marketing Director at the Arbors, commented.

In addition to the selling of craft items such as jewelry, jams and jellies, Tupperware, homemade Christmas decoration, and wooden crafts, there will be a raffle containing $150 worth of lottery tickets. All proceeds will be going to Lorraine's Soup Kitchen.

"Unlike last year, we will be serving lunch. There will be hot dogs, chili and chicken and rice soup. Chips and soda can be purchased," Jones said.

Besides the bake sale, the Arbors has been raising money for the soup kitchen during dress down days. On the last Friday of every month, employees at the Arbors pay $1 to dress down. They also have been hosting their own canned food drive.

Proceeds from both these events go directly to Lorraine's.

Anyone interested can donate a baked goods for the bake sale. All donations are welcomed.
