CHICOPEE Good food paired with fine wine almost always guarantees a successful event, and the Chicopee Chamber of Commerce is betting that combination will entice area residents to support its latest fundraiser a Beer & Wine Tasting and Auction to benefit local causes.

"Wine tasting is a spirited, thirst-quenching and good-natured adventure," Gail A. Sherman, Chamber president, said.

The fund-raiser is planned for May 9 at the Castle of Knights on Memorial Drive. Sherman noted that a popular spin-to-win wheel will once again feature a lot of instant prizes including restaurant gift certificates.

Sherman explained during an interview with Reminder Publications that Chamber fund-raisers support local businesses, nonprofit organizations and the overall development of the region.

Sherman noted that in addition to a few surprises, great food by Castle of Knights and the Munich Haus, wine and beer beverages and a myriad of auction items to bid on both silent and live will keep area residents entertained throughout the evening. The affair is planned from 5 to 9 p.m.

"Chamber members have donated a wide range of their services and products," Sherman said, adding, "it is a prime example of the extraordinary support that the Chamber enjoys from its members."

Auction items already donated range from golf clubs and gift certificates to baskets, bed and breakfast getaways, a barbecue grill and patio set.

Sherman also noted that businesses are still welcome to donate prizes for the evening fund-raiser.

Tickets will be available at the door for $20 and the event is open to the public. To reserve tickets or for more information, call the Chamber at 594-2101, or visit www.chicopeechamber.org.
