CHICOPEE Struggling to find that perfect gift for Mother's Day?

Two enterprising local women will be offering a unique craft show on May 7 that promises gift ideas that any mother would love, according to Christina Bernier of Springfield, one of the organizers.

"The event is to help the crafters and vendors get their names out to the public," she said during an interview with Reminder Publications, adding that because their products are direct sales they are not available in retail stores.

Bernier is familiar with direct sales consulting since she works for Tastefully Simple and Temptations. Bernier and her sister Charlene Scagliarini, an independent consultant for Avon, are calling their joint venture a "Mother's Day Extravaganza and Spring Craft Fair."

Bernier added that the event is not just for getting a gift for Mom. As the name implies, there is something for everyone, she said.

Independent consultants in addition to Bernier and Scagliarini already planning on participating will represent Massage Therapy by Sheila, Taylor Made Airbrushing and Partylite. Additionally, vendors will be selling a wide variety of jewelry, crafts, embroidered handbags and paintings.

All vendors reside in western Massachusetts, said Bernier.

Crafters and independent sales consultants interested in participating have until May 4 to reserve a space. The fee is $30 for one eight-foot table and two chairs.

There is no admission fee to attend the show which is planned from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus on Granby Road. Persons attending the show will also be entered into a drawing for raffle prizes donated by the show's participants.

"The vendors will draw a name at the end of the event and contact the person who won and bring the free goodie out to them," said Bernier.

Persons attending the show during lunch time will also be able to purchase soda, water, sandwiches and chips.
