Good Dog Spot's 'Run for the Roses' benefits TJO

Date: 5/15/2015

CHICOPEE – Max and Oliver were the winners of this year’s Mother’s Day Run for the Roses at The Good Dog Spot in Chicopee, an event that raised money for the Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center (TJO).

Fifty-six four-legged racers took part in the event during which staff and clients could place $1 “bets” and fill out brackets to predict the winners, which were posted on the company’s website and social media outlets, Tiffany Coe, office manager, explained.

Max, a Boxer, won the large dog competition, which consisted of 32 participants. He beat out Oreo in the final race to earn his place in the winner’s circle.

Oliver, a Beagle, won the small dog division for the second year in a row, topping a field of 24, including Winston in the final heat.

“A lot of the staff picked the younger dogs to win; especially in the large dog bracket we have some young labs that are very fast,” Coe said. “But it was the senior dogs that did the best because the younger ones weren’t so sure about all the cameras and strangers.”
