CHICOPEE — Holyoke Catholic High School's production of "Godspell" promises a show filled with "fantastic feel-good music and an important story line," according to Eva Stockhamer, director of the performing arts troupe.

"Godspell" will be staged Feb. 11 and 12 in the Veritas Auditorium at Elms College, 291 Springfield St. Show time is 7:30 p.m. both evenings.

On the evening of Jan. 20, students came in from the cold and filled the college stage with warmth, from the beginning of the rehearsal with "Day by Day," under the musical direction of Dr. Todd Rovelli, to the parable readings while on the playscape set.

For several students, this winter's production will spell the end of musicals for their high school years.

"We chose 'Godspell' for our winter production because there were students interested in another musical," Stockhamer said during an interview with Reminder Publications. "Also, we have some seniors who really wanted one more great musical before they graduate."

"Godspell" is an ensemble cast, and includes PJ Adzima, Kevin Lempke, Rick Giordano, Pat Moskal, Bryan Garcia, Matt Lafreniere, Mara Palma, Amy Vieira, Caroline McHugh, Monique Desnoyers, Amaris Gagnon, Meghan Dumas, Kristen Fraser, Christina Benigno, Andrea Boraski, Tori Stuetzel, Eileen Keegan, Natalie Davies and Ben Viens.

"The theme of 'Godspell' is to believe and show your love to others," Stockhamer said. "Our seniors have believed in this program for the four years they have been involved and really love participating. A perfect fit if you ask me."

Stockhamer not only has a talented troupe, but also has a dedicated group of volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure each production is well staged. Stockhamer's volunteers include Dr. Todd Rovelli, musical director, accompanied by Jill Mongeau; Dr. Frank Croke, lighting director, assisted by Sam Stockhamer and Kurt Muraski, and Croke, Poppa G, Dr. Andy Boraski, Bob LaPrad, Paul Morey and Andrew Morey, all working on construction. Stockhamer added that Maureen MacDonald "and company" have tie-dyed the T-shirts for the cast. Additionally, Eva Stockhamer and Croke are working on the set design.

One intermission will be observed and in honor of Valentine's Day, special treats will be available, ranging from chocolate-covered strawberries, and stuffed cannoli from Cerrato's Pastry Shop, to chocolate lollipops.

"We will have special treats that represent love," Stockhamer said.

Tickets at the door are $10 for seniors and students and $12 for adults.
