Holyoke Catholic High School principal quits abruptly
Date: 11/25/2014
CHICOPEE – Parents of
Holyoke Catholic High School students received a telephone call last week giving them notice that the principal of the school Roberta G. Lojko had resigned.
She had been appointed to the position in June.
Holyoke Catholic officials declined to comment and referred reporters to
Mark Dupont, the spokesman for the
Diocese of Springfield.
Dupont told
Reminder Publications he could not discuss the resignation as it was a “personnel matter,” but did say that Lojko would remain on her job through Nov. 25. After the Thanksgiving break, there would be an interim principal named and a search process would commence,
With controversy swirling around the future of another Catholic high school in the diocese, Dupont said the resignation had nothing to do with Cathedral High School.
“For reasons we can’t disclose she opted to resign her position,” Dupont said.
A resident of Ware, Lojko noted on her
LinkedIn profile, “I have worked for 35 years in public education, in seven high schools, a middle school and a community college in Massachusetts. I taught English and language arts for 17 years, was a high school administrator for 12 years and a community college curriculum developer for six years. After retiring from public education, I have been hired this spring as the new principal of Holyoke Catholic High School in Chicopee, MA, where I hope to lead this fine college prep school into the next 50 years of its history.”
