Plans move forward for Hall of Fame

CHICOPEE -- Plans are moving forward on the Chicopee Public Schools Athletic Hall of Fame with the first fundraiser for the project.

The Hall of Fame committee has announced what should be an annual event, a golf tournament on June 20 at the Chicopee Country Club. The shotgun start will be at 12:30 p.m. with check in by noon.

The committee is currently looking for golfers and for sponsors. Foursomes of golfers cost $100 for each golfer and include two carts, T-shirts for each golfer, lunch on the course and other gifts. The captains of teams of golfers are asked to make a $100 deposit to reserve space for the team.

The deadline to sign up for the tournament is June 1 and space is limited to 36 foursomes.

Sponsorships opportunities include a "gold sponsorship" for people or organizations that contribute $700. That level of sponsorship includes golf for four people, two hole sponsorships, greens fees, golf carts, T-shirts, lunch on course, banquet, sponsorships recognition at banquet and a sponsorship ad in the tournament program.

The "silver" level is for a donation of $600 and includes golf for four people, one hole sponsorship, greens fees, golf carts, T-shirts, lunch on course, banquet, sponsorships recognition at banquet and a sponsorship ad in the tournament program.

The "bronze" level is for a donation of $500 and includes golf for four people, one hole sponsorship, greens fees, golf carts, T-shirts, lunch on course, banquet and gifts.

Attending the banquet only at the American Legion Post 452 at 43 Exchange St. costs $20.
