Restaurant to help Womanshelter/Compañeras

Date: 11/25/2014

CHICOPEE – Family Roasters restaurant, located at 1408 Memorial Drive, is giving a reason to be thankful and show support for battered women and children this Thanksgiving Day.

As a part of their Thanksgiving Special, which includes everything from a choice of turkey, chicken, or pork, a variety of sides, salad, stuffing, gravy, and even dessert, the locally owned restaurant will also be making a contribution to Womanshelter/Compañeras in Holyoke. Ten percent  of the proceeds from the Thanksgiving Special will be donated to Womanshelter /Compañeras, as a show of support for the well being of the women and children who have found a safe haven in the shelter.

Family Rosters will begin taking orders for their Thanksgiving Special through the day before Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving Day the restaurant will be closed to the public, since Family Rosters will be working on the Thanksgiving Special orders for the day.

“Our restaurant is, for the most part, run by our family. My sons, daughters, daughter in-law, wife, and even grandchildren are all involved in some way with Family Roasters. We have always dreamed about doing something together – something that represents what we most value in life, which is Family”, Nelson Alicea Sr., president of Family Roasters Inc., explained.

Alicea continued, “We want to share that message of caring with everyone. We need to value, love, and support families. At the end of the day that is who we go home to and that is what keeps us motivated. Children need stability, love, and healthy eating habits. At Family Roasters, we believe that is the recipe for a bright future. No family should be destroyed by domestic violence, and these brave survivors deserve to know that there is a community – a Familia – that is here for them no matter what.”

Family Roasters restaurant is locally owned. Its rotisserie chicken is the star of the show, but it also caters to others by including steak, fish, pork and a variety of sides that range from Hispanic to American favorites. Daily specials are available for lunch and dinner. The restaurant offers eat-in, carry-out, and delivery.
