CHICOPEE City seniors are invited to participate in a Senior Bowling League that is now forming at AMF Bowling Alley at Springfield Plaza.

The league is being formed by the Chicopee Council on Aging (COA) and a kick-off event is planned April 26 at 1 p.m. to introduce the staff and enjoy a free round of bowling.

Seniors interested in participating can choose between tenpin or candlepin lanes, according to Senior Center Director Sandra Lapollo.

"It's good exercise, fun and a chance to socialize with friends," said Lapollo during an interview with Reminder Publications, who encourages city seniors to participate in the league.

"We have had a league for many years but participation has declined," added Lapollo. "This is an effort to renew interest."

The league will start on May 2 at 1 p.m. and meet weekly. The cost is $4.50 per week with free shoe rentals.

For more information on the Senior Bowling League, call the COA office weekdays at (413) 534-3698, or the AMF Bowling Alley at (413) 733-7865.
