East Longmeadow 4th of July Parade Committee announces parade will take place

Date: 5/19/2021

EAST LONGMEADOW – The show will go on.

The East Longmeadow 4th of July Parade Committee announced that the parade will make its return this year.

The parade is set to take place on July 4 at 10 a.m. The parade route will start at the East Longmeadow High School on Maple Street, ending at Hanward Hill.

“We are being optimistic in our parade planning. On parade day, please be prepared to comply with any health regulations including social distancing and mask wearing. Failure to comply with regulations will result in your entire group being asked to leave,” the press release shared by the 4th of July Parade Committee reads.

In a statement on the committee’s Facebook page, they noted that due to COVID-19 restrictions, the parade committee reserves the right to refuse or limit the number of participants from any group that requests entry into the parade.

Currently, the parade is looking for volunteers to be parade marshals. For those interested in helping, email contact information to 4th@eastlongmeadowma.gov.

According to a press release, parade marchers will report to American Saw on Chestnut Street where there will be shuttle buses to bring participants to the starting point of the parade and back to the parking lot at the end of the parade. All groups with children must have adult supervision. The release notes that no parking will be allowed in the East Longmeadow High School (ELHS) horseshoe, and all individuals who are driving in the parade must stay with their vehicles, as space and movement is limited.

The ELHS horseshoe will close at 9:45 a.m., and all floats will line up for judging at the high school by 8 a.m. All military groups will report directly to the high school. The parade will start promptly at 10 a.m.

For those interested in participating in the parade, they must fill out the online form at eastlongmeadowma.gov/4th and click on the “participate” button on the right side of the page. If interested, participants must respond no later than June 24.

Should interested parties have difficulty signing up online, they can email 4th@eastlongmeadowma.gov with contact information and parade representative will reach out via phone to assist.
