Assistant Managing Editor EAST LONGMEADOW Last Tuesday the East Longmeadow Garden Club helped beautify the Norcross Center property and honor former members who have died. The Club donated a memorial garden bench to the Norcross Center. The bench was purchased at Graziano Gardens and was placed at the property by owner Chris Graziano. East Longmeadow Garden Club member Suzanne Reed explained that the Garden Club previously donated books to the library and planted gardens at Center Hill School in memory of members who have passed on. "We like to spread the wealth," she said, explaining the decision to make the next memorial contribution to the Norcross property. Reed was present for the installation of the bench along with Friends of The Norcross Center President Merle Safford and Graziano. Reed explained that the bench honors the memory of E.L. Garden Club members: Winnie Hobart, Pearle Lane, Catherine Bradley, Stella Demetrion, Helen Hill, Linnea Phillips, Marjorie Zebryk, Rhoda Waterman, Joyce Thodal, Caryl Dixon, Mary Florence. The bench is located in the front of the property in a garden which can be seen from Maple Street. |
