Brielle's Brigade is at it again

Brielle's Brigade is back. In 2006, seven people united, many of which had never met, to raise money for one worthy cause The Dana Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund. The team was amazed and overwhelmed by the community's extreme generosity. In its inaugural year, Team Brielle's Brigade was able to contribute $77,000 to the Jimmy Fund.

After completing the 300-mile bike ride across Massachusetts, the team quickly committed to another year. After all, they finished the ride, but a cure is still in the making. Therefore, the team united again and recruited several new members for another great year of fun, laughs, spills and most importantly, raising money for cancer research and care.

The team comes together this year in honor and memory of many loved ones who are battling or have battled the disease. Specifically, they are elated to report that their team namesake, Brielle, now eight years old, recently passed the one year anniversary of her bone marrow transplant. She is back in school and continues to grow stronger every day. It is stories like Brielle's that reinforce the importance of the work of organizations like Dana-Farber.

As the team looks toward 2007, the goal has been set to surpass $100,000 in fundraising for the PMC. An exciting range of activities and sponsorship opportunities are on tap.

Mark your calendars June 29 the second annual Team Brielle's Brigade Cocktail Party and Silent Auction will be hosted at the Springfield Country Club. Ticket price is $25.
