Commission hosts fund-raiser at Summer Carnival

EAST LONGMEADOW The East Longmeadow Historical Commission will host its second annual fund-raising event in a booth at the Jaycees' Carnival from June 29 through July 3.

The donated raffle prizes include Doug Brega's print "Clam Dories," a table by Steve Fourbush and four prints donated by Susan Tildon Pecora.

Each Pecora print depicts one of Historic Deerfield's four seasons. Framing and matting for the Pecora works was donated by J.H. Miller Picture Framing Company of 305 Bridge St., Springfield. Framing for the Brega print was donated by J.P. Picture Framing of 1654 Riverdale St. of West Springfield.

Also, a gift basket was donated by WGBY, Public Television for Western New England of Springfield. The basket includes VHSs and DVDs of WGBY local productions and a year's membership to the station.

The East Longmeadow Historical Commission will also donate a basket. Eric Smith, owner of Simone's of East Longmeadow, has donated a gift certificate. Other items will also be included.

The Historical Commission would like to send thanks to Taylor Rental Party Plus of East Longmeadow for donating the booth, tables, chairs and lighting. They also send thanks to The Painted Sign of East Longmeadow for providing signage for their booth. The two companies made it possible to make the booth look its best.

Raffle tickets are $2 each, six for $10, and 12 tickets for $20. Proceeds from this event will benefit building improvements for the Historical Museum House and improvements to the Historical Room at the town's library.

Raffle winners will be announced July 4, after the parade, in front of the Historical Commission Headquarters at 87 Maple St., East Longmeadow. Winners need not be present. They will be notified by telephone.
