EAST LONGMEADOW – Four teachers from East Longmeadow Public Schools were selected as winners of the 2021 Pioneer Valley Excellence in Teaching Awards.
The awards went to Alexandra Lennon, a third-grade teacher at Mountain View School who has been teaching for seven years; Abby Steiner, a 28-year veteran educator, who teaches English as a Second Language at Meadowbrook School; and second-grade teacher Anne Lungarini, who has been in the profession for 30 years. Brendan Abad, an East Longmeadow High School Health Education teacher, has been teaching for three years and won a New Teacher award.
All were first time recipients of the awards from the Harold Grinspoon Charitable Foundation. The winners receive a plaque, $250, graduate school tuition incentives, memberships to regional organizations, and a chance to win a further prize by submitting a project-based learning idea.
