EAST LONGMEADOW — Volunteers gathered at the East Longmeadow Library on April 5 to share information and supplies ahead of the April 8 Earth Day Cleanup. Black and clear trash bags were handed out to collect waste and recyclables, respectively. Representatives from Commonwealth Sustainability, a compost-hauling business that serves the school department, were on hand to answer questions about composting as a form of waste reduction. Behind them, paintings and digital designs from East Longmeadow Public Schools students were displayed. Totes and T-shirts with this year’s logo, designed by an East Longmeadow kindergarten student, were available, as well.
