East Longmeadow incumbents keep seats, Boucher and Dalenta win write-ins

EAST LONGMEADOW – Incumbents Kathleen Hill and Ralph Page were re-elected to the Town Council in the June 7 Town Election. Joining them as newly elected councilors are Anna Jones and Matthew Boucher, who ran a write-in campaign for a two-year seat.

A total of 1,735, or 13.6 percent of voters, came out to the polls at Birchland Park Middle School. Hill received 1,082 votes, while 853 voted for Page and 997 ballots were cast for Jones. Hill has served on the Town Council since its inception in 2016, while Page was elected to the seat in 2019.

Along with Hill, Page and Jones, Terri Leone and Samuel Stoughton ran for the seats, but lost. Leone and Stoughton received 650 and 293 votes, respectively.
Boucher led write-in campaign for the seat left vacant by the death of Councilor Thomas O’Connor, as did Sidney Starks, who had been appointed to the council to fill O’Connor’s vacancy. At the time of his appointment, Starks had stated that he would not run for election. Boucher won the seat with 298 votes. Starks received 234 votes.

School Committee

Two seats with three-year terms were available on the East Longmeadow Public Schools (ELPS) School Committee. Incumbent Antonella Raschilla and Carlos Rios were listed on the ballot and a write-in campaign was undertaken by Aimee Dalenta. Raschilla, who was first elected to an open seat on the School Committee in 2019, won re-election with 1,155 votes. Dalenta, with 1,008 votes, was chosen to fill the seat being vacated by William Fonseca, after 12 years on the committee. Rios received 566 votes. Raschilla and Dalenta will each serve three-year terms.
