EAST LONGMEADOW – Kelly Glover is a lifelong resident of East Longmeadow. For many years she worked in the town’s video store and then for East Longmeadow Community Access Television. Recently she has made a career switch and is turning her love for animals into a business. Creature Comfort Services officially opened on Jan. 1 and, according to Glover, has seen great community support so far.
“I’ve had an absolutely great response from the towns,” said Glover. “I actually started by putting my information on the East Longmeadow and the Longmeadow Town Forum and I had a huge response. The first day my phone just would not stop ringing.”
Glover said that she has owned many types of animals throughout her life. After being laid off from her prior job due to COVID-19, her friends and family encouraged her to embark on this new journey.
“I thought it was a good fit. I got my first job from an internet pet service, and I really loved taking care of these two little dogs while their mother was away for a week and I thought, you know, this could be a good idea,” said Glover.
Creature Comfort Services is fully licensed and insured and offers pet taxi, pet shopping, pet sitting, pet walking and house sitting.
Glover is Red Cross Pet First Aid and CPR certified. She is also Pet Sitter and Dog Walker certified and a member of the Professional United Pet Sitters.
She offers services mainly to residents of East Longmeadow and Longmeadow, but also offers limited services to the towns of Hampden, Wilbraham, Springfield, Somers and Enfield.
Glover can provide care from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, though she said that she can arrange care for animals at earlier or later times depending on specific client needs and situations. However, she does not offer overnight pet sitting or doggy daycare.
“I can’t because I have my own pets,” said Glover.
Glover said that she is comfortable working with animals of all sizes and species.
“Whether they’re big or small, indoor or outdoor, dogs or cats, rodents, hamsters – I have two mice myself – birds, fish, really any animals. I’ve had quite a few of them in my life,” she said.
Her prices range based upon services requested, length of time that is needed for services and for the town the customer resides in.
According to Glover, she also offers complimentary meet and greets to make sure that she is a good fit with the animal. All her booking is done through her Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/creaturecomfortservices413.
“Once someone becomes a customer, then I give them my card and it has my phone number on it so they can text me any time they need to,” said Glover.
Creature Comfort Services is also an eco-friendly company, according to Glover.
“All of our bags for waste and the pads for wiping their feet when they’re muddy or dirty are all compostable and biodegradable,” she said.
She is hoping that in the future she will be able to sell homemade organic treats for all types of animals as well.
For now, she is enjoying getting outside in the fresh air during frequent dog walks and connecting with the animals she cares for.
“I get to have snuggle time with some of them, so that’s always welcome,” said Glover.
