EAST LONGMEADOW – American Legion Post 293 hosted East Longmeadow’s annual Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony on Nov. 11.
Three members of Post 293 were honored with awards for their service to the organization over the years. The post commander recognized Daniel Kneeland for his work as Veterans Grave Officer, Terry Glusko for spearheading the Veterans Memorial project and Post Adjutant Michael Lupo for his 14 years with the organization.
The post commander reminded those gathered, “It’s the veteran, not the preacher who gave us freedom of religion. It’s the veteran, not the reporter who gave us freedom of the press.”
State Rep. Brian Ashe talked about working on behalf of active service members. He used a sports analogy, saying, “They’re all the current team, but they’re nothing without the legends of the game.”
